Internet in Saint Lucia, Caribbean – Best Cafes to Work From & Tips to Get Good Internet

Whether you are planning to work remotely from Saint Lucia or just need some good wifi to send pictures to friends or write a few work emails, this article about internet in Saint Lucia should help.

The majority of cafes and restaurants in Saint Lucia offer wifi these days. But, not all unlimited. The most limited one I came across was a beach bar that only gave a wifi code for 30 minutes.

In general though it’s not difficult to find wifi in Saint Lucia. It’s more about finding a nice place to work from as many cafés and restaurants give you a strange look when you pull out your laptop.

These are my recommendations for places with good wifi that also have a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere to spend some time tapping away on your laptop.

And, at the end of this article, I share some tips about sim cards and other ways to get good internet in Saint Lucia.

Best Cafés to Work From in Saint Lucia

1. Cafe Olé – Rodney Bay Marina

Rodney Bay marina has wifi that isn’t password protected, but it’s a bit hit and miss.

I spent almost two months in the marina and there were days I would have said the wifi was exceptional, and days I couldn’t get anything done.

Cafe Olé has their own wifi and gives you a code for 24 hours.

Plus, it’s a nice cafe with a good seating area indoors and outdoors, good coffee and cakes, delicious fresh juices, and lunch options ranging from sandwiches to delicious bowls.

Next door you find Corner Cafe which is worth checking out as well. But they only have a small number of seats so I’d feel bad taking up a seat for too long working on my laptop.

2. Rituals – Rodney Bay

Rituals reminded me of Starbucks, if Starbucks would offer burgers as well.

So yes, it has that American coffee shop chain feeling, but their wide range of coffees are good, they have air conditioning and good wifi.

3. 7th Heaven Bakery – Rodney Bay

Delicious pastry and comfortable seats make this a great cafe to work from

This has been one of my favorite places to work from in St Lucia, with some of the friendliest service.

Their internet is good, their indoor seating area offers a lot of privacy and their pastries are delicious!

They also serve good coffee, nice smoothies and they have sockets next to the tables.

They have air conditioning indoors and also offer outdoor seating (some seats in the shade, some in the sun).

Their indoor seating is limited though so if it gets busy you might not be able to get a seat indoors. That being said, I’ve never seen it that busy here.

4. The Saint Lucia Yacht Club – Reduit Beach

With plastic chairs and very simple meals this place is nothing fancy, but the view is nice and if you are sailing in Saint Lucia, it’s a good place to meet other yachties.

Before I bought my catamaran I always thought of Yacht Clubs to be very exclusive and only accessible to yacht owners. While in some places that may be true, here that definitely isn’t the case.

Their wifi is good, there is enough space and they don’t seem to mind people sitting around on their laptops for several hours.

During the week they only open at 3pm, so it’s an afternoon work spot.

Note: right next door you find a beach restaurant called Spinnaker. You might find this more appealing as a place to work from, but they only give out 30-minute wifi codes.

5. Doolittle’s – Marigot Bay

A great place to combine work with a visit to the beach

Especially for an afternoon of working, followed by a drink while watching the sunset, Doolittle’s is a good option.

The cafe is pricier than others, but the setting is great.

Doolittle’s has a ferry that picks you up just in front of the entrance to the marina, or if you have a dinghy you can tie up to their dinghy dock.

6. Hurricane Hole Cafe – Marigot Bay

If you want to combine working with looking at some beautiful yachts, Hurricane Hole, the café inside the marina, is a nice option.

They don’t open until 11am though, so don’t expect to start an early workday here. But, they then do stay open until 10pm.

7. Cafes to Work From in Soufriere

To be honest, if you’re looking for good cafes to work from in Saint Lucia, Soufriere isn’t the best location.

But, if you are here, try Ti Tak Cafe and Zaka’s Art Cafe.

Other Options for Internet in Saint Lucia

1. Resorts

All resorts in Saint Lucia offer wifi and most of their cafés and restaurants are open to outside guests.

Do check with the resort before you go there though, as some only allow outside guests when they pay for a day pass to use all the facilities.

2. A Local Sim Card

I bought a Flow prepaid sim card in Rodney Bay. Their rates are reasonable but their internet isn’t the best.

Surprisingly, a British Vodafone sim card gave me much better internet!

Digicel is your other option for a local sim card, and reviews are similar to Flow.

3. A Mobile WiFi Hotspot

If, like me, you move around a lot, buying a local sim card every time gets annoying and you probably waste a lot of money on unused credit.

A mobile hotspot can then be a good option. It’s not always the cheapest option because you can often get mobile data cheaper locally, but it is definitely convenient.

GlocalMe is a popular option that works in over 140 countries. Especially if you don’t need too much data it’s a great way to easily get internet wherever you travel.

If I stay in a country longer than a week I tend to buy a local sim card on top of this though, because I do use a lot of data and a local sim card is cheaper.

But, a system like GlocalMe is a lifesaver when you first arrive in a new country.
