Trier Hotel Review: the Vienna House Easy

If you are looking for a comfortable, mid-range hotel in Trier, the Vienna Easy House is a good option.

During my first visit to Trier I stayed at Vienna House Easy Trier.

From the moment I walked in, tired after an almost 5-hour drive, I felt welcomed by the friendly staff and comfortable interior of the hotel.

Note: after my review of Vienna House Easy the hotel has undergone renovation. I have kept pictures of the old interior in this article because my review is based on this. Click here for up-to-date pictures and more information about this hotel in Trier.

Our hotel room was very comfortable.

Spacious, well maintained, and with all the facilities you need (think spacious wardrobe,  a desk, a tv, enough lights, a comfortable bathroom, etc) without feeling cluttered.

Even though the hotel was almost fully booked during our stay we heard absolutely no noise and the hotel in general kept its calm, quiet atmosphere.

First of all I was happy to find their parking garage with ample parking spots available as I arrived. I knew the hotel was almost fully booked so I was glad to see how much parking their garage offered. And parking was surprisingly affordable.

You enter the hotel into a spacious lobby modestly decorated to create a casual but warm atmosphere. Their slogan “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” really shows throughout the hotel: the hotel is very unpretentious. It is not a five-star hotel and it is honest about that.

What the hotel is, however, is an affordable and very comfortable “home away from home”. They make you feel you can be yourself and feel at home.

Free, fast wifi is available throughout the hotel.

hotel and restaurant review

Vienna House Easy Trier - restaurant

The hotel offers a restaurant and a separate bar area. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is also where the buffet breakfast is served.

I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast offered here! Their wide selection of breads, condiments, all sorts of cheeses and sliced meats plus an ample choice of cereals, fruits, and cooked dishes really made this into a perfect breakfast.

And even though we clearly arrived at breakfast during peak hours, it still felt comfortable, intimate and not rushed in any way.

We also had a lovely, quiet dinner in the hotel.

With the hotel located in such a lively city with so much to offer, I can imagine most guests choose to eat out most nights. So we found ourselves to be one of the few people in the restaurant. But the food was lovely, they offer a good mix of traditional German dishes and international cuisine and as everywhere else in the hotel the staff was extremely friendly.

Nice touch: I get really disappointed when I go to a hotel bar at 10pm and already find it closed… The hotel bar here is open 24/7!

Hotel Location

Vienna House Easy Trier - exterior

Vienna House Easy Trier is located just outside the city center. It takes you just 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the center and about the same amount of time to walk to the train station in case you arrive by train or want to explore the area by train from here.

I was worried the hotel would be a little too far outside the city center but it really isn’t. It’s a comfortable walk right past the impressive Kaiserthermen (Roman Imperial Baths) into town.

Hotel Value

Prices for a double room start around € 80, which makes it a very reasonably priced hotel in Trier.

Again, it is not a five star hotel and it is not trying to be that. But for what you pay for it you get a very comfortable hotel with friendly staff located right by the center of Trier.

However, during some periods the price goes above € 100 per night for a double room. At that point, I’d say this makes it a mid-range hotel competing with several slightly cheaper hotels of similar quality.

Hotel Review Conclusion

Vienna House Easy Hotel in Trier is well worth it.

It simply is a very comfortable hotel offering all you need during a city trip or while exploring the surrounding areas.

Easy parking, good wifi, great breakfast, and extremely friendly multi-lingual staff make this hotel well worth what you pay for it.

  1. I am happy to hear that! The Vienna House Easy Trier was planning to renovate when I was there so I guess they have now finished that. That means I will have to go back then! 😉

  2. I am staying at Vienna House in Trier at this very moment, and have to say it looks totally different!
I am having a very good experience.
The rooms are cool and modern now, and the lobby and restaurant are also under renovation.
The staff is super kind and helpful, and they have a very good scrambled egg (very specific information, right? But I really loved it.. =P)

  3. Now, that’s just a nice place to stay at. I haven’t heard of Trier either, but there is no doubt about the country’s capability to maintain most of its historic treasures.
